La Vida News – The Black Voice was founded in 1957 by Mr. Audrey Pruitt to bring a positive news force to the African-American communities in Tarrant county. It is Fort Worth and Arlington’s oldest and largest circulated Black-owned and operated weekly Black newspaper and remains in the Pruitt family today.

The purpose for The Black Voice is to inform, educate and promote growth within the Black community. We carry weekly features including local community news, state and national news, sports, entertainment, community calendar, “Citizen of the Week,” legal and health advice, etc.

Because there is so much negative news being generated about members of the African-American community in the general market newspapers, The Black Voice focuses on the positive aspects of their accomplishments. This is one reason we are the official newspaper of record in the Black community for The City of Fort Worth.
